Clay, Fiber, Veggies; Sepia and Color

Last week I was asked to consider what inspired me most at Connie Rose's blogsite. She was having an anniversary and asked her readers what had inspired them most at her blog.  I realized it was her use of photos in her collages and fiber art. I had played with Photoshop some in the past and even altered a few for use on fabric. But when my computer died so did the use of Photoshop. With my new computer I have downloaded Gimp and am gradually trying to figure out what all I can do with my photos. I haven't got far but enjoyed the results of simply using the Sepia setting for a few photos. Above is the dill from our garden drying on racks. Below is peering into my yogurt maker, shown in sepia.
And below are some spoons and knives ready to go into the next kiln load.
Color is good though .... below is one of what my husband calls my 'spa' dinners .... simple, tasty and healthy ...homemade tofu with fresh veggies.
Green beans! We didn't lose them all in the frost ... I collected enough for a whole meal this weekend! They were so good I'll be planting more once it warms up.
And for some good discussion I've been following Jane Dunnewold's post "Discharge! The Emperoro's New Clothes".  It also reminded me that I've used dryer lint in my work. I've included it in some of my fiber studies and below is one of my early clay and fiber pieces made from the dryer lint of the fabric for my wedding dress.
Hope you're enjoying a wonderful creative inspiring week!

contempo, pushing the limit on art and ARTYBRAS!

When I visited the opening for 'contempo' in Tequesta on Thursday evening I found a bonus show going on at the same time, the ArtyBras! My friend Karla Walter posed in front of her artybra.....
Don't you love her 85% dark chocolate bra? Title 'Her Obsession'!
Although I'd never condone a meal with bacon and eggs I couldn't resist sharing this bra with you. I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the artist. I thought I'd be able to read the name in the photo when I downloaded the photos but no luck.
Here is another shot of a few more of the artybras....
The opening was very crowded so I didn't take many photos but I managed to shoot a few clay pieces as well as a featured photo entry.
Below is ' Condo Commandos' by Gail Erickson.
'From Pawn to King' by Diane Lublinski .....
And 'Enchanted Wings' by Georgia Novotny. Also by Georgia is 'Ribbons and Bows' and 'Leather in Alteration' but not totally visible in the photo.
If you're nearby don't forget to attend the fashion show and auction for the Artbras on February 19th.

Contemp Art Show

These two wall pieces and my funky tea jar were accepted into "contempo, pushing the limits on art", to be held January 6th to February 12th at the Lighthouse ArtCentre in Tequesta, Florida.

The above piece fiber portion is pieced and quilted, featuring seeds, petals and Angelina fibers. Stoneware clay box frame is textured and highlighted with iron oxide.

More quilting with nature's contribution of rose petals and seeds, this piece is textured with the use of solvron as described here.

Bits of pine needles are included in this fiber study, stitched to a funky tea jar. If you're in the area check out the show. If you can attend January 6th enjoy the ArtsyBras, fundraiser auction for cancer. I had intended to get a bra made this year but time escaped me.

For some fiber inspiration check out 3 Creative Studios. They are holding a launch party to celebrate their new website, blog and lots of exciting upcoming and on-going events! And you can enter to win fabulous gifts! If you haven't already visited click on over .....
