Spring has Sprung!

The rains have arrived and today the first rain lilies are in bloom!

 A Bluejay seen through our family room window.

 The Mexican Flame vine will soon be going to seed again.

The coffee bushes are having their first flowers!

Spring may be very hot here but it's makes for beautiful blooms!

Egyptian Geese Visit Again!

As I was watering the garden this week two Egyptian Geese flew over and landed a couple houses down. They quickly made their way along the water's edge and I ran inside to grab my camera so I catch a few shots as they made their way through our yard.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

As I watched this beautiful red cardinal and snapped some photos through the family room blinds I thought what a sweet little bird he was ......

As I snapped away I was thinking that he must be looking for worms as it had just rained.

 When I loaded the photos onto my computer I suddenly clearly saw that he enjoying quite a feast!

Most of the critters inside my house may be vegan but certainly not those outside in the yard. He is still beautiful although I want to brush that little bit of grass (or food!) off his brow area! 

South Florida Hawk

While I was watering the garden late this afternoon, I heard a very vocal bird. I thought perhaps it was actually a tiny bird with a big voice but as I looked up just before coming inside I saw this beautiful bird! I thought my noticing him/her would quiet his/her voice and/or chase it away but I had time to go inside, get my camera, come back and shoot several photos. I never did see it leave so I guess it feels very secure up there in the trees.

Anyone know what type of bird it is? I can only guess as far as hawk of some type. It looks so soft and cuddly .... aren't looks so deceiving?!  Update: My neighbor just told me it's an osprey. I should know that, shouldn't I?
